Fire & Emergency Response | Training Programme

Most fires are prevented long before they start.

Fire safety covers prevention and early recognition — the housekeeping, ignition control and detection arrangements that stop a fire developing in the first place.

Overview

A workplace fire is far easier to prevent than to fight. Prevention means keeping fuel and ignition sources apart through housekeeping, hot work control, electrical maintenance and safe storage of flammable materials.

Participants also learn the decision everyone on site must make instantly: tackle a fire or leave. A fire is tackled only when it is small, the alarm has been raised, the right extinguisher is to hand, you are trained to use it and the way out is behind you.

What the programme covers

  • The fire triangle and how fires develop
  • Ignition sources and hot work control
  • Flammable material storage and housekeeping
  • Detection, alarm and suppression systems
  • Means of escape and escape route integrity
  • Fire safety responsibilities in the workplace

Who it is for
